Many congratulations to the 1st team who, subject to final LCU confirmations, have won the Division 7 league by beating Wexford by 76 runs. For the club's first ever game on the new mat, Sandyford made 219 with Abid top scoring with a century in a game reduced to 39 overs per side. With word of Laois gaining maximum points against YMCA, Sandyford had to bowl Wexford out for under 161 which they did reasonably  comfortably, dismissing the opposition for 138.

The 2nds also wound up their season with an excellent win over Phoenix. Put in to bat Sandyford made 242-10 in 35 overs with Shyam and Amandeep putting on a stand of 121, each making 74. Phoenix were retricted to 195/07 in reply so a nice way to end the season also for the 2nds.

In a refixed game for the 2nds, reduced to 20 overs a side, Sandyford had a good win over Leinster 5 who featured in their ranks two of the sons of former Sandyfordian, Steve Tonge. Leinster made 138 in their innings, helped by a 50 by their opener, with Anand Joshi taking 4 wickets, but Sandyford was successful in chasing the score down, although Ray Shimmins was dismissed by Matthew Tonge.

Both teams were in action this weekend. The 1sts took on our local rivals Dundrum on Saturday. Sandyford made 118/10, Vinay Iqbal top-scoring with 26, but dismissed Dundrum for only 58 with Imran Aziz taking 5/28.

Happy winning Sandyford side with a bemused umpire!.

On Sunday, the 2nds faced Civil Service 3 in the Phoenix Park. Unfortunately, many cars had to be abandoned miles from the ground due to the marathon and despite the exertions of walking, Sandyford managed to bowl Civil Service out for 132, using 8 bowlers in the process with Anto Burke leading with way with figures of 12/4. Despite being 10 for 4 at one stage, Sandyford won by 4 wickets with Ravi Singh top-scoring with 74*.
