A mixed weekend for the 1sts and 2nds. In a rain affected game on Saturday, the 2nds ran out easy winners over Leinster 5ths by 164 runs. Batting first, Sandyford made 261/8 with Gurninder Singh hitting 94 not out. The Leinster innings closed on 98 with Shyam Bharti taking 3/13.

In a high scoring game on Sunday, despite making 227, with Qasir Chohan hitting 52, Sandyford 1sts lost to Terenure 2nds by 34 runs in Terenure.

The 2nds were in action in Division 12 on Sunday in Marlay Park against Civil Service. The away side batted first and were dismissed for 112 with Imran Aziz taking 3/23. Unfortunately, despite 28 by Kiran Hedge, Sandyford fell 31 runs short of the total, being dismissed for 81.

Saturday saw the annual friendly against St. Columba's College for the John Fanagan trophy. A close match saw the school winning by one run. The school made 125 off its 20 overs which Sandyford just failed to chase down.

Unfortunately, the weather got the better of things in the game between Sandyford 1 and Terenure 2 whom we haven't played since 2012. Sandyford have not lost the first game of the season since 2011 and things were going well as the visitors collapsed to 60 for 5 but recovered to 177 for 8 when the rain resulted in the game being abandoned.

The 1sts kicked off their season with an away game against Rush 2nds on Sunday. Posting a reasonable score of 165-10, with Waleed Zafar making a 50, Sandyford found the Rush batting too strong and could only take one wicket to lose by 9 wickets.
