On Saturday, the 1st travelled to Carlow to take on Bagenalstown 1. Sandyford made 248 (Shyam Bharti 75) but the Baggies won by 4 wickets with B. O'Mara making 119*. Derek McCormack ended up with 3 stitches on the inside of his mouth when hit by the ball but he is fine.

Wesley College was the home venue on Sunday when the 2nds took on Malahide 5. Thanks to hard hitting by Qasir Chohan (73) and Shyam Bharti (76*), Sandyford made an impressive 292-09, two runs short of the highest ever total by the 2nds,  which Malahide failed to chase down, ending their innings on 198-06.

Much of the 2nds game was spent looking for the ball in the bushes where it had been deposited by Qasir, Happy and Shyam. Here the Marlay Fox tries to sniff out a missing ball.

The 2nds took on Merrion 7 in Bird Avenue on Saturday. In a bad tempered game (report inside), Sandyford batted first and were all out off the last ball for 178 with Anand Joshi top-scoring with 39. Despite 4 wickets from Anthony Burke, Merrion made the total for the loss of 6 wickets.

Better luck for the 1sts on Sunday against North Kildare. The home side made 201 all out, which included a hat trick by Javad, and with the in-form Senthil Kumar hitting 63, Sandyford ran out winners by 3 wickets.

Meanwhile, Ray Shimmins has been spotted on TV supporting Ireland, and his son Kirk, at the hockey in the Olympics in Brazil. To Ray's right is his wife Pearl and their daughter, Chloe.

Saturday saw the 2nd team away to Cabinteely 1sts in Blackrock. Sandyford were put in to bat and made 197/10 with Ravinder Singh top-scoring with 64. Despite everyone's best efforts, the home side easily chased down the total losing only 3 wickets.

Ravi's score of 64 wasn't enough to prevent the 2nds losing to Cabinteely

The 1sts were in action against Pembroke 4 on the 17th in Sandymount. Batting first, Sandyford made 284 all out with Senthil Kumar leading the way with a century (111) aided by 50 by fellow opener Anand Joshi. Pembroke were dismissed for 80 in reply with Sidharth S Kumar taking 7/15.

Sandyford 2nds visited North County 5ths on Saturday but lost by 6 wickets. Batting first, Sandyford put on a respectable 182-8, with Ray Shimmins top-scoring with 52. However, an opening stand of 126 helped North County reach the total with relative ease.
